The last course you attended

“Visceral Mobilisation” – Being an “hands-on” physiotherapist, working with musculoskeletal conditions as well as female health problems, this course has allowed me to improve my clinical reasoning and manual therapy skills, seeing and feeling beyond the obvious.

The most challenging case to treat

During my professional path, I’ve encountered different challenges treating either MSK patients or paediatric and women’s health conditions, most of them related with motivation and compliance with the treatment plan. I believe that being honest and truthful is an important factor to connect with our patients and motivate them to focus on their recovery and well-being.

My work with women’s health conditions such as vaginismus, chronic pelvic pain and incontinence, which can be lifelong troublesome, keeps flashing the obvious… That we are so much more than just a body and that everything is connected, not only our musculoskeletal system but also our mind and psychosocial being.

What is the most common advise you give to your patients?

We are moving beings so keep that in mind in everything you do! Take care of your body and mind by staying active, not only considering the rehab process from a specific issue but mainly to prevent it and to improve your general well-being.

What makes a good physiotherapist?

A good Physiotherapist is the one that listens and sees the patient for what he/she is… a human being, not only an injury or a physical body part! Listening to the patient’s concerns, fears and expectations, taking in consideration all the emotional and psychosocial factors, is crucial to be able to assess properly and then help the patient accordingly.

From day one, we need to gather all our professional knowledge regarding anatomy, biomechanics, function, injury mechanism and so on, as well as the best therapeutic skill set, and take it all into a holistic approach to accurately assess the patient’s condition and promote the best rehab possible.
